In the huge fire at Gikomba market last march all of Nyambura’s stock and of many other traders was reduced to ashes. Gikomba is East Africa’s largest open air second hand market, situated in Majengo slums. Over the years numerous fires, mostly preventable, laid the stalls in ashes. For Nyambura and other traders a huge challenge to feed their families and rebuild the place again. “The best thing is to focus and look forward. We, Gikomba people, are know as ‘hustlers’.
